Stephen P. Shannon, DDS
Dentistry is not just my profession it is also a passion for me. I love what I do and really enjoy the process of improving a person’s oral health and self-confidence. Being a part of the whole process is truly fulfilling. It’s amazing what tiny changes we can make to create a huge difference in someone’s life.
Education & Continuing Education
I order to become a dentist, I attended Louisiana State University of Dentistry, where I attained my DDS. With my formal education complete, I am always studying the latest and evolving dental methods and technologies. As a part of my continuing education, I have attended the Pankey Institute for advanced dental education. I am a member of The Greater Baton Rouge Dental Association where we receive courses on a continual basis. I attend study groups to gather ideas from other practicing dentists to stay abreast of new techniques that may help treating our patients in the best manner possible.
My wife, Kelli, and I both originally from New Orleans, have been married for 11 years and enjoy living in Baton Rouge. We have 2 daughters, Emma Grace 9 and Katelyn 6. Our family enjoys spending time together riding bikes, tennis, playing outside, going on vacations, especially the beach. I enjoy running, biking and tennis. Also LSU sports and Saints football.
In My Office
Many of my patients come in with a fear of the dentist. I always empathize with them and let them know that we will do whatever it takes to make them feel comfortable. We use medication to take to edge off as well as good ole fashion bedside manner. I have found that when a person understands how important
Teeth are to their overall health, and then a motivation factor is there to maintain excellent oral health. By the end of treatment, patients have transformed not only there smiles, but also their confidence.
Our practice is a personal-relationship based practice, where we see one patient at a time. We understand a person’s needs by getting to know them on a personal level and taking the appropriate time to accomplish that.
I feel so fortunate to be a part of this wonderful community and to have patients who appreciate so much of what we do for them. I love the interaction with each person who comes in for an appointment, and the constant positive feedback we receive.
In the office, we love to laugh and interact with our patients. We always want to know what’s going on in their lives at each appointment, and we take the time to catch up and build relationships with each patient. Our team enjoys the high quality of dentistry we are able to accomplish on our patients. We take pride in everything we do for our patients.
